We stayed at Sea Otter RV Park for three nights. I can honestly say that they had the rudest campground staff I have ever encountered. We arrived late (around 11:00 p.m.) so the office was closed. My husband paid in the morning for three nights. We were staying in a tent and it still cost $30 per night since we were in a "waterfront" site. The only reason we stayed was because it was raining and we had already set up camp the night before. My sixteen year old son walked over to the office with my nine year old to get a cup of coffee. The woman in the office told him that he couldn't get coffee, it was for adults only.
The bathroom floors and showers were filthy. There was mildew growing in the corners where the linoleum was rotting off the floor. The showers were made of painted concrete and the paint was peeling off. By the time I was done with my shower I was standing in two inches of water. Even with flip-flops on it was disgusting. To top it off, when we were taking down our camp on our third morning the lady who worked there came around and asked if we were staying another night. I told her "no, we're taking down our camp" (it was obvious). She replied "Well, check out is 11:30, if you aren't out of here by 12:00 it will cost you another $15. Do you want to pay it now? (it was 11:15). I told her no, that she could talk to my husband who was down cleaning fish. She went and told him the same thing and that if we were there any later than 12:30 it would cost another $30! My brother-in-law ended up paying her $30 even though we were only there for another half hour. It wasn't as if they had lines of people waiting for a spot, there were lots of empty spaces. Needless to say, I will never stay there again and I highly caution anyone else to either. There are several other RV Parks in Valdez that look more spacious and well taken care of. It would be hard to find a more unproffesional, unfriendly campground host either. If you want to stay on the ocean and don't care about the rest, then here's your place. Also be aware, this campground is by the port where the boats go in and out: they start very early and they don't stop.
This is a nice, clean state campground. The only facilites are the restrooms and water pump. But it is well taken care of and there is a boat launch here. Only downside: lots of mosquitoes.
